Oakland’s installation guide, introduces you to the work involved in fitting a new conservatory.
Once you have received and accepted our competitive quotation, the work will be planned and installation carried out in the following three main stages.
Stage 1 - Groundwork
Oakland will prepare the site of the conservatory, clearing the surface area, dealing with any underground pipes and building a solid foundation.
- Set string lines to mark size and position of conservatory
- Prepare ground area
- Dig strip footings
- Pour concrete foundations.
Stage 2 - Basebuild
Oakland will build the conservatory footings to finished floor height. We will then lay hardcore, ensure it is compacted and may finish with a blinding of fine material, such as sand. A polythene damp-proof membrane (DPM) will be used before concrete being used to create the slab, which will form the conservatory floor. The conservatory wall, either single or double skin cavity, will then be built ready to receive the frame fitting.
- Deliver skip and materials
- Build footings to finished floor height
- Lay and compact hardcore
- Add visqueen damp proof membrane
- Pour concrete to form concrete slab
- Build dwarf cavity wall
- Fit backboxes for electrics.
Stage 3 - Fitting
With the base and the walls in place, the conservatory frame with then be fitted. Following which the conservatory roof, glazing, flashings and finishing will be added.
- Prepare spars and component parts
- Fit main conservatory frame
- Build the conservatory roof
- Prepare and fit internal boards
- Fit double-glazed units
- Fit lead flashings
- Install the roofing sheets
- Plaster walls
- Fit flooring
Pre-Installation
Before Oakland Windows & Conservatories can consider installation, we must first ensure that all aspects of the work are given due consideration. Our knowledable team will visit you and aquire an understanding of your home and what you really want from a conservatory. We will discuss all the options with you and make you aware of other considerations, such as planning permission and conservatory positioning.
