Polycarbonate roofing - the great insulator
Light, tough polycarbonate sheeting for your conservatory roof is a great option. The sheets have almost 200 times the impact strength of glass, and are long-lasting, safe and secure. Polycarbonate sheeting also reduces condensation and diffuses light, and is a great insulator.
You’ll need to consider a number of options for your polycarbonate roofing. We can advise you on this, although the direction your conservatory faces is the main factor. If you are interested in just buying polycarbonate sheets, then these are available for purchase online through our sister company, Truly PVC Supplies, who supply a range of conservatory, window and door parts..

Polyspan Blue

Polyspan Grey
25mm Polycarbonate
The ultimate in energy efficiency, with a great U Value (a measure of heat loss) that means superb insulation. Enjoy your conservatory even in the snow.
Clear
Your conservatory will be bright and light even on the darkest winter days, with a light transmission level of 82% and a shading co-efficient of 0.95.
Bronze
Provides a light transmission level of 31% and shading co-efficient of 0.56. This gives you solar control, which reduces heat build-up. Will help keep you cool if your conservatory attracts a lot of sun.
Opal
Provides a light transmission level of 64% and a shading co-efficient of 0.90. Will help keep you cool if your conservatory attracts a lot of sun.
Bronze/Opal
Provides a light transmission level of 23%. Bronze on the outside; opal on the inside. Excellent sun protection.
Solarguard/Heatguard
Allows light to enter the conservatory, but deflects solar radiation to reduce heat gain by up to 50% compared with clear polycarbonate. Enjoy your summer garden without getting heatstroke.

Explanation of Glass and Polycarbonate Features
- Self Clean
- Coating that reacts with sunlight to break down dirt on the surface. In addition rain 'sheets' away quickly, rather than forming droplets and leaving unsightly ‘drying spots’.
- Solar Control
- Helps regulate the amount of solar energy that enters a conservatory. Provides a more comfortable and energy efficient conservatory.
- Low E
- Low emissivity cloating applied to the external face of the internal pane helps to reflect heat back into the conservatory.
- Solar Transmission
- The proportion of the Suns energy that is transmitted through the glass or polycarbonate sheet. The lower the percentage the better it is.
- Argon Gas
- Gas filled cavity reduces the transfer of heat through the unit.
- U Value
- A measurement to describe the rate of heat transfer from one side of the unit to the other. The lower the better.
- Solar Heat Reflection
- Percentage of heat from the sun that can be reflected to prevent conservatory from getting uncomfortably warm.
- Light Transmission
- Percentage of light that passes through the double-glazed unit or polycarbonate sheet. A lower figure means reduced glare and less risk of sun damage to furnishings.
